ABOUT
Hello! My name is Amber. I’m a writer based in Auckland, New Zealand. I love Japan, storms, wearing vintage dresses, baking berry muffins, dancing till I can’t walk, digging through crates of records and dreaming of abandoned theme parks. Phew.
Code For Something is a compendium of things that will hopefully inspire and make you wiggle in your seat with joy. It was started in May 2008. As I recall, I was sitting in the living room of my dank flat, using my laptop to keep me warm. My webhost gave me a free domain; I registered this and thought hey, I may as well blog. (And as silly as the term is) I’m so glad I started blogging; I’ve met tons of wonderful people and done some very interesting things I might not have had the opportunity to do otherwise. The name comes from a love of semiotics and geeking out… everything is code for something!
I love to talk to/work with new people, so please do get in touch if you need to hire a creative mind or just want a chat over tea. It’d be my pleasure.

Hi Amber,
I’m moving to NZ for a year starting the 6th of June, so i’ve been googling my interests looking for indication that i won’t be losing too much of what i am (not that THAT would be too bad of an event). I googled vintage shopping, auckland and the web presented me your blog, which i’ve been reading for an hour now.
Thank you for soothing my pre-departure jitters.
Inasmuch as i am looking forward to this trip, i needed reassurance that i’ll be able to find the cornerstones to my interests there as well. Let’s just say this is a journey i hadn’t planned till meeting my now-boyfriend, the dear Flowerchild himself.
Again, thank you and keep writing!
Francesca
