There’s an absolute plethora of talented illustrators coming out of Brighton. The latest one to grab my attention is Chris Pell, a recent graduate who’s making a name for himself with commissions like a t-shirt for Metronomy. I also really like his work for the band Witch.

Rejoice, Hauruki Murakami has a new book out in Japan! Released on Friday and clocking in at 1055 pages, 1Q84 will offer relief for all us addicts.

Liberty takes their prints to a grand new scale, and releases some must-have floral sunnies.

Johanna put together a collection of delightful error pages. Like the fail whale, only less often! Can you think of any examples? I’m sure she’d love to find more.

Art director Petra Storss is interviewed about her wonderous architectural props and costumes. They’re all made from simple materials like paper!

Epicute celebrates a tiny tree cake. Faux miniature foods always float my boat too! You should have seen me in Japan… I came home with an entire suitcase stuffed with plastic donuts & fish.

The Sartorialist points out that he inspires Lanvin, but what’s really sweet is all the New Zealanders chiming in about the Kiwi!

pe August 19, 2009 at: Ahh, I like this post a lot. I’ve just got back from Brighton, it’s really nice down there this Summer. The Uni has been churning out a lot of good illustrators for a few years – Sophie Kern, Rosie Roberts et al, we feature a lot of Brighton graduates in Art and Things.

A new Murakami! It’s a rare and great feeling to have a writer/artist/musician who you really, really get into who is still contemporary and producing, actually going out and buying new material on the day of release, keeping pace with the progression in real time. Yeah. Does any of that make sense?
