PHOTOGRAPHIC EVIDENCE: SNOW BUSINESS

by Amber on July 13, 2009 in Photographic Evidence

I talked earlier last week with friends about saying “YES!” to everything and the impact it can have on your life. Good, bad, insane – it’ll make it interesting. So on Friday when I got a text message asking me if I wanted to go to the mountain, I had no choice really. Yes!

We hung out at the Turoa field, Mt. Ruapheu. A grand old time was had until the winds picked up – on Sunday the entire mountain was closed.

Burning questions: Do you like snow? Or is it all about the après ski? Do you ski or board? What do you think of mountain fashion? I just wear black everything, like a designer on ice…

Wow, look at that view over to Mt Taranaki, it must have been an awesome day up there.

All about both the on-mountain and off-mountain activity. The best thing about off-mountain activities is that they tend to kick off around 6pm with dinner (after a quick shower of course), and after a couple of mulled wines everyone is usually feeling pretty merry due to their physical exploits during the day.

The outfit: black pants, semi-loud white/green/blue jacket. Need something that stands out a little otherwise hooking up with your friends on piste becomes impossible.

Tineke: Replacement 450D! You should persevere with snow… but go to a rental shop and get hooked up with a jacket (under this I wear a thermal and a tee) and pants (I wear leggings under these). Also, I think beginner lessons are pretty damn cheap now days. Do it!

Duncan: It was bee-yoo-ti-ful. Sunny for most of the day! I love how easy it is to settle into the mountain routine… and you always sleep so well :)

Have you read the book, Yes Man? I’ve been avoiding the movie because I loved the book so much – it’s completely adorable and definitely worth looking up.

I really want to go up the mountain again. I learnt to ski as a kid but I didn’t really like it. I do like the idea of taking the lift up and wandering around up there. Drinking coffee, taking photos. But it’s a little expensive for a whim.

Oh, also you use the live view on the 450D? my papa has the 450d (just HAD to beat my 400d) and never uses the live view. It bugs me.
