10 CAKES YOUR MOTHER NEVER USED TO MAKE

by Amber on January 30, 2009

We all like cake, right? Well some people go to new levels… Using fondant they create fantastical food architecture. Baked porn. My mum definitely never whipped anything up like this for me when I was a kid! However I did have a lovely Cinderella cake for my 5th birthday party. Anyway, here’s 10 of the craziest cakes you’ll ever see:

Bacon Cake

A meat cake?

Severed Head Cake

For your divorce party perhaps. Or Halloween!

Rocket Cake

The plumes of smoke are awesome!

sushi cake

Jello is used to represent the ikura (salmon roe)

hellokitty

Just as cute dead!

burger cake

Mm - healthy!

Bunny

Fluffy wuffy!

Panda Cake, Pig Cake and 3 Cake

We end on a trifecta of cuteness!

Oh my god those are a-ma-zing!! Those last three are so freaking cute, and the severed head killed me!

The best homemade cake I ever got was on my 7th birthday, my mum made a cake in the shape of an LP record being played on a record player… it was pretty cool!

Little LJ, OMG, wow that is so cool. I want one of those now. Seriously. Hmmm who needs a birthday to justify a cake right?

Yay, thanks for using my “Three Cute Cakes” shot at the end for your “trifecta of cuteness”!

It was a recent display in the window of the Wonderful Patisserie at 45 Gerrard Street in London’s Chinatown. They always have cute cakes, so if you’re in the area, do stop in and check them out. If you bought one it would probably make the shop owners quite happy too. :)

The ikura cake you featured is brilliant, too.
