I have been intending to conduct an investigation of local shop windows for quite a while… I took this photo this morning so I guess I’m starting now! This is the current Louis Vuitton window display in AKL:
I love it. Every so often they change out the bag/gloves/sunglasses. It’s a glowing golden yellow yolk on quite a cold looking strip. Previously the display was row upon row of stark white globes, reminding you that yes, we are a global brand!
Here is a bridal shop in the arcade where I work. Plain, simple flower arrangement but that fuchsia dress punches you in the eye and makes you look. Imagine wearing that to your wedding – there would be no doubt who the star of the show was!
This lovely mish-mash is a bookstore on Dominion Road, Auckland. Crammed tight full over treasures, it’s like looking into a jewelery box for literary types:

This mission has been inspired a lot by Sandra Juto and her amazing photography of the Swedish city, Göteborg/Gothenburg. She is also the founder of the Flickr group Window Shopping.
It seems that window dressing is a bit of an alchemist’s game! However, I am looking to documenting Auckland stores and discovering that yes, there are some beautiful (and hapazardly winning) examples of it here. Of course, stores located in the beyond will also be documented when I get there! Watch this space.

I’ve been photographing the LV windows since the store’s inception. I love this one and the globes, did you see that? I regularly photograph Smith and Caughey’s windows too. AK’s visual merchandisers now have two people to please ;)
Oh woops, you did! Illiteracy.
That LV window is also the same in Prague!
D.R.L: That’s pretty crafty. I’m not surprised though – it’s a lot easier to manage brands from HQ and just roll out “looks”.
